More about Enniskerry Self-catering Accommodation

Enniskerry self-catering guest suites opened their doors in December 2010 to visitors looking for accommodation on a self-catering basis. The rates are particularly competitive in the current tourism market. It is situated in a beautiful, farming valley in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands 220m off the R103 (the old Durban main road) on the D2346.

We have 4 spacious and comfortable self-catering guest units. All have loft bedrooms (2 units have single beds and 2 have queen beds) with wardrobes. Units 1, 2, and 3 have a double sleeper couch in the lounge and unit 4 has 2 single beds downstairs with a day bed. All rooms have a downstairs bathroom with shower, basin and WC and a fully equipped kitchen. Fans keep the rooms cool in summer and heaters and electric blankets ensure you’re warm in winter. Each has its own covered verandah with table and chairs and a small portable braai – ideal for relaxing and watching the sun set. In the summer, there is a small culinary herb garden behind the units and guests are welcome to pick their own artichokes, lettuces, and herbs.

The KZN Midlands is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in South Africa. It has also become the ideal location for people seeking a country lifestyle away from the big city stress. Enniskerry is in the heart of the Midlands Meander and within close proximity to many attractions. These include Peter’s Gate Herb Farm with the Lavender Fields Tea Garden (ideal for tea or a light lunch), Granny Mouse’s Country House with the Eaves Restaurant for fine dining or the Bistro for something lighter and Caversham Mill Restaurant. The Ugly Duckling and Miguel’s Leather Crafts are also very close by as is Culamoya Chimes and Swissland Cheese. Piggly Wiggly offers a great cappuccino, lunches and teas and on their premises are 14 shops – something for everyone. Abingdon Wine Estate, also open for lunches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, will have you thinking you’re in the Cape. Lions River Trading Post has antiques and the well-renowned Karkloof Canopy Tours will satisfy the adrenalin junkies. The KZN Midlands has prolific bird life and is a birdwatcher’s heaven. The area is safe for walking, hiking and cycling and buck are spotted regularly. Fly fishing is also available nearby. The latest addition to the area is a Parkrun (08h00 every Saturday at Piggly Wiggly) and a mountain bike track at St Ives.

Enniskerry is midway between Howick and Nottingham Road. At Fort Nottingham there is a lovely little museum and Els Amics is a lovely restaurant (booking essential). Midmar dam is also in close proximity for the annual swim. The Midlands is a popular wedding destination and Enniskerry is well situated if attending a wedding in the area. We are very close to Michaelhouse, Woodridge Country Estate, Orchards, The Glades, Granny Mouse and Lastingham.

A relaxing few days at Enniskerry will rejuvenate your mind, body and soul.

Due to the layout of the units, we regret that we do not accommodate children under 12 years.

Roger and Rosemarie look forward to meeting you.
