ELTA Insect Protein Farm is an organic edible insect farm based in Pretoria, South Africa. Our motto is Dream it, Believe it and Build it. We raise and harvest organic crickets, meal worms, grasshoppers and mopane worms for human consumption. The story of ELTA Insect Protein farm started after reading the FAO reports http://www.fao.org/edible-insects/en/ http://www.fao.org/edible-insects/84802/en/. Following reports, there was a realisation about the critical need for sustainable proteins to feed a growing global population. We are currently doing pilot farming in a small space which allows us to supply small quantities. However, we are working to move to a larger facility in order to fulfill the rapidly growing demand for the product, and start the first, full-scale edible insect farm in Pretoria, South Africa and then replicate the same in neighboring countries such as Zimbabwe. Our vision is to become a major supplier of high quality, healthy and delicious edible insects in Africa and the World.
