Most of us consider play to be a simple and natural part of childhood. However, more and more research shows us that there is more to play than the sheer fun of it.

Play specialists tell us that it is fundamental to our children’s development. It is how children explore the world and discover their role in it. The beauty of play is that children initiate and control it. Through play they develop socially, creatively, morally, physically and emotionally.

Play allows our children to learn to solve various conflicts as well as to deal with emotional issues. When children play, they are not merely passing time, they are growing, learning, sharing and discovering. They are opening themselves to the world and establishing themselves in it.

Unfortunately modern society robs more and more children of this vital part of their development. They spend countless motionless hours watching TV, playing video games and sitting in front of the computer. Opportunities to play outdoors are decreasing as parents keep their children where they know they are safe.

Since 2005 Doodlebugs has been addressing these issues by providing a safe, imaginative indoor and outdoor setting with numerous activities (both structured and unstructured) allowing interaction, discovery and play.

Doodlebugs creates an environment which stimulates and educates children from the age of four months until they are ready for Primary School. Our recipe for an enriching and stimulating environment is as follows:
