Distant Echo Xau Island

Xau Island is the playground for hippos in the Delta. This amazing piece of earth is situated approximately 12 km south of the rural village Seronga in the NG12 area on the banks of the Okavango Delta Panhandle.

At Xau Island you will find a fast variety of wildlife such as, hippos, elephants, monkeys, genets, porcupines, only to mention a few.

Courtesy of its location, Xau Island can offer land and water activities all year round. Game drives are performed in one of our comfortable and specially designed game viewer vehicles by our specialist guide while you enjoy a refreshing drink. Mokoro or motorboat trips present our guests a chance to experience the amazing birdlife, plants and even a wide variety of reptile species found in the watery habitat that is the Okavango Delta. For the fishing aficionado we offer fishing safaris along the main river in our specially designed glass bottom boats from Sepupa to Seronga and then into the Delta. For the more daring we offer guided walks on the sister islands nearby which is teaming with wildlife.
