Desert Dew Guest House

Your hosts at Desert Dew Guest House, are Henk and Erika Marais. They have 3 children, and have lived on this farm for more than 22 years. They love it when guests arrive to enjoy their hospitality, and the beautiful and tranquil farm surroundings.

Henk Marais is the third generation and current owner of Modderfontein Farm. The farm is situated in the Victoria West area, 35km from Three Sisters on the N1. The guest house does have an entrance from the N2. Horseshoe mountain, on the farm, is the highest point between Cape Town and Johannesburg in a straight line.

Desert Dew Guest House is the halfway-stop between Cape Town and Gauteng – The perfect place to unwind before you continue your journey. There are also six natural springs on the farm – (hence the name Desert Dew).

We recently expanded our beautiful guesthouse on demand. The “Vellewaenhuis” – meaning – ‘The Shed’ in Afrikaans, was converted, and now boasts 3 new self-catering chalets. These units are modern, and ideal for a family stay.

If you enjoy good old fashioned Karoo cooking (with a modern twist), then our Guesthouse farm kitchen is for you! From fresh eggs from the farm, to delicious Karoo lamb and seasonal veggies…. your taste buds will be spoilt!
