Cowan High School in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, opened its doors in 1946 to the community and has ever since produced people with academic and sports excellence. The school is situated in a predominantly disadvantaged community with the majority of our learners surviving on their grandparents’ old age pension or child grant. We are also faced with a high unemployment and illiteracy rate in the community. Currently we are educating more than 1300 students, whom we are trying to give a chance for a better future.
