Clarinus Village

The name ‘Clarinus’ is an amalgamation of the names of the two residences - Clarendon and Carinus. What started off as a Nursing college eventually developed into an actual home away from home for many students. Nestled behind the Groote Schuur hospital, the Village was primarily a Health Science students residence. Of course, all things have to come to an end and with time, students from different faculties were admitted to reside here.

Clarendon is a males only residence while Carinus serves to house the counterparts. The residence has the capacity of accommodating 264 males and 301 females in single or double rooms. The dining hall, library, gym and tuck shop are some of the facilities that the two residences share. Each residence is equipped with its own laundry rooms, bathrooms and kitchen areas.

Clarinus Village prides itself in providing holistic growth for its residents. There are several sports that one can participate in as well as cultural, environmental and social responsibility activities. Educational conversation is not rare since ‘educating the masses’ is one of our mandates.

There is an excellent support network/structure for students, Fresher or senior. On every floor is an average of 4 floor mentors who go out of their way to make sure that students are keeping their head above water.
