I have always had a passion for cats, and started breeding Chinchilla cats after getting
my very first kittens in 2002. Chindy’s Cattery came into existence 2007 after
relocating from Durban to Gauteng. I was not working full time, and wanted to meet
other cat loving people. I felt that my love of cats should extend to caring for other
people’s cats too. Chindy’s is a combination of my name, Cindi, and the Chinchilla
cats I breed.
The cattery started with the 10 pen indoor cattery, and in 2012 I added 5 wendy
houses with enclosed grassed gardens. The indoor cattery is ideal for single and up
to 3 cats per family, while the wendys can accommodate families of up to 6 cats
each.
Every cat that comes into the cattery is treated as one of my own – each cat receiving
individual daily petting, grooming and lots of love. All cats are fed to owner
specifications, and I will also administer any medication a cat may require.
The kennels came into being when I realised that cattery clients would drop their cats
off with me, then take their dogs to a different establishment. A regular client asked
me to look after her dog, and one thing led to another and 10 kennels were put up.
Each kennel can take up to 6 small dogs, or 3 large dogs from one family. We have a
large fenced off area where we exercise the dogs, and allow socialised dogs to enjoy
play time together. Every dog is treated as one of our own, receiving lots of love and
attention from myself and kennel hand, Grant.
