More about Charity Open Garden - Mulligatawny Farm 13, 14 & 15 October 2017

The gardens at Mulligatawny Farm, the weekend retreat of interior designer Michael Hogan, situated in Skeerpoort near the Cradle of Humankind, were first opened to the public last year. Thanks to the hugely positive response from those who visited, Michael has graciously agreed to open the gardens again this year--so diarise 13, 14 and 15 October 2017. Again, all proceeds go to St George’s Turning Point Foundation.

This spectacular 16-hectare garden, although only just over a decade in the making, has been lovingly designed and conceptualised by Michael, drawing inspiration from European landscapes and Monet’s water gardens at Giverney.

The garden exudes whimsy and romance, and the highlights include over 130 varieties of waterlilies, thousands of roses, irises, crab apples and a large collection of bamboo varieties. There is an orchard of heritage fruit trees, a potager with hand-painted tiles depicting exotic birds, a folly and a grotto. The Garden Cathedral has had a year to mature, and Michael has continued to extend and refine the garden--a great opportunity to see how this magnificent garden is developing. .

Refreshments will be on sale along with a bar. Visitors will also be able to order and buy a wide selection of plants, with an emphasis on the unusual.

All proceeds will go to the Turning Point Foundation, which was established to assist young people to make the transition to independent living, and gain skills that business wants.
