As the urban population of Cape Town mushrooms, and more and more pressure is put on environmentally sensitive areas of the Cape Flats , it is imperative to facilitate the education of our population as to the necessity of appreciating and conserving our natural areas.
Formal education, day trips and other initiatives such as YES provide such education opportunities. Yet a truly meaningful change of attitude is often only gained by a more extensive interactive experience within the remaining natural areas. These opportunities are critically lacking on the Cape Flats and the Cape Peninsula in general. Where they do exist, they are often deficient from a number of perspectives.
