Welcome to Cafe Amoeniue situated in central Paarl, one of the most beautiful towns in South Africa. I know that you will enjoy your visit to Café Amoeniue.

Our name originates from the Latin word Amoeniue. (Say “a-moe- ni”)
Amoeniue translates from Latin as delightful.



Cafè Amoeniue will be a place to relax and unwind from daily life and the pressures of time. We will strive to delight all our visitors ensuring that they have a pleasant experience.

Our building dates from 1857 with the front veranda and rooms added in 1932. The building was beautifully restored and the furniture reflects the colonial and homelike atmosphere. Two fireplaces and wooden floors compliment the ambiance further. Seating areas include three beautiful dinning rooms, two verandas, two lounge areas and a formal rose garden with fountains.

The delightful atmosphere is only matched by the tasty dishes our chefs prepare in the Café every day. Our blackboard adds exiting dishes to the menu. Illy coffee and Dammann Frèrers tea compliments the menu. Traditional made syrups served with mineral water will quench your thirst. Flavours like Victorian Rose Geranium, Lemon, Buchu and Ginger syrup brings back thoughts of granny in her kitchen. Visit our gift shop for exquisite gifts and our pantry for olives and preserves.
