The de Villiers family set foot on South African soil in May 1689. They embraced the wine industry, which was founded in 1659, and has since striven to perfect the art of viticulture and wine making. Their French forefathers have influenced their practices. Dr Theo (Ficky) is one of the few De Villiers' that still practices this important culture. Nicolaas Johannes Theodorus (Ficky) is the third generation of the De Villiers family to continue this legacy at Boschrivier.
