Bloem Shelter is a Christian organization that is a registered NPO providing shelter for the homeless, catering for women, women with children, the elderly, men and frail persons.
God’s vision never lacks God’s provision”.
These words have been the guiding light for Izak Botes, a family man who has taken it upon himself to provide and care for over 75 homeless people in Bloemfontein.
We are nine medical students of the UFS who have been assigned this NGO in a community project module. This is a learning opportunity for us to engage with real organizations in the community in order to make sustainable changes for their benefit by assessing their needs and interacting with the community to recruit support and raise awareness to the issues at hand.
We will share our experience and insight on the current needs of the shelter and explore ways to help the Shelter become sustainable in the long run, and the residents strive forward to an empowering future!
