More about Biff's Big 6

PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND IN FULL BEFORE LIGHTING any BIFF's wood or charcoal product.

Lighting Instructions
Spread a thin layer of BIFFQUETTES into the centre of your braai. Place 4 firelighters onto this layer at well spaced intervals or gooi the charcoal with lighter fluid, leaving to soak in for 5 minutes – pour a cold one and have a tea break.

Form the required quantity of BIFFQUETTES into a pyramid, as carefully as you would bails on the cricket stumps. Light the firelighters, or if using lighter fluid, light the BIFFQUETTES with a match or taper.

After 20-30 minutes the glowing BIFFQUETTES will be covered with fine grey Ashes. Carefully spread the BIFFQUETTES across the braai. You are now ready to begin your innings, so pour a cold one.

Grill Safety
Your braai should be placed on a flat and level surface away from flammable items, overhangs and trees – save the willows.

Make sure the Ashes are cold before discarding.

Keep away from children and pets – rather let them hit a few on the lawn.

Do not move the braai when hot.

Never leave the braai unattended - a Wicketkeeper never leaves his post.

Cooking Safety

Frozen food must be thoroughly defrosted before braaing.

Always wash your hands thoroughly – whether handling raw or prepared food, and before chowing down.

Raw meats can contain harmful bacteria and should be separated from cooked and pre-prepared foods – like Deep Fine Leg is separated from Long Off.

Braaied food may look well cooked, when it isn’t – a bit like a googly spinning the way you wouldn’t expect. Burgers, boerewors and chicken should be cut open and checked. If necessary, continue cooking.

Refer to cooking instructions and the Wisden Cricketer’s Almanack for a great braai and a game of Cricketer’s Trivial Pursuit.

WARNING
Do not put firelighters or the alike on lit BIFFQUETTES.

Never light BIFFQUETTES with petrol, methylated spirits, or other inflammable liquid not designed for the purpose - especially if you have a Merv Mustache. It is dangerous and imparts a nasty taste on the food.

WARNING – Charcoal braais give off CARBON MONOXIDE when used, which is poisonous and can kill. DO NOT use a braai indoors or either in a tent, caravan or awning, only for outside use. NEVER burn charcoal inside homes, vehicles or tents - indoor is just not cricket.
