From humble beginnings in the 1980's Astron Security grew rapidly, becoming the 3rd most recognizable name in burglar alarms nationwide. Since then there have been many changes in the industry with acquisitions, mergers and buy-outs. However, the Astron name remains synonymous with the use of quality equipment and personal service.

Rob Vaughan, who owned Astron Electronic Systems from 1994 to 2001, has bought Astron Northern Suburbs (Cape Town) and Astron Security and Automation in the Southern Suburbs (Cape Town), realising the huge and growing demand for thorough and professional advice on personal security.

Wireless Security Systems
Astron were the first alarm company to make use of patented wire-free equipment. Wire-free technology has come a long way, and we now offer state of the art, user-friendly equipment with amazing features not necessitating any cabling.

Using a combination of door contacts and wireless motion detectors that are immune to pets provides us with the fexibility to design a fully-customised system that suits YOUR needs and can be added to as your budget allows or your needs change. The system is operated by remote controls that automate all your everyday security functions The system can be accessed by phone allowing you the peace of mind to check the system status wherever you are.

Perimeter protection:
Due to the increase in blatant intrusions, we are finding a high demand for early warning security, such as outside beams or passives, electrified fencing and better outside lighting. This external equipment has improved tremendously effective in eradicating false alarms and providing early detection of intruders. Most alarm systems are able to have these devices added to them, and if not, then the cost of changing the panel has actually come down in price.

Electrified Fencing
This is also a visual deterrent for keeping intruders outside your property. The prospect of a severe shock is as much a psychological barrier as a physical one. In addition tampering of the fence by shorting or cutting can be set up to activate an alarm. The fence can also be connected via a radio transmitter or your burglar alarm system to an armed response company. The fence is usually powered by mains power with a back-up battery for use during power outages. We always ensure that the installation is as unobtrusive as possible whilst remaining effective.

Through-Beam Detectors These provide security in your garden or outside premises by means of synchronised pulsed infra-red beams which, when broken by a human intruder, trigger an alarm. Using this system means that false alarms caused by falling leaves or small animals are virtually eliminated.

Armed Response
Astron will link your alarm system to the company of your choice. We have a very good working relationship with both ADT and Chubb, as well as many security companies. We strongly advise people whose alarms are linked via the telephone lines only to have a radio installed : this is a much faster and effective way of your signal reaching your monitoring or armed response service provider. Astron under take to do the installation of the radios and the necessary paperwork for the response company themselves.
