Aslan Youth Development (AYD), is a South African Non-Profit Organization, founded in 2013 and based in Mbekweni, Paarl. The objective is to direct and support Youth in becoming more responsible citizens.
Therefore Youth become active leaders in building a culture of peace. There is encouragement for Youth to take an active part in civic affairs.

Over the past 2 years, Aslan has worked in 40 rural and urban areas throughout South Africa, reaching 1000 direct participants that include children, Youth and teachers.

Aslan (means ‘peace powerful lion while having fun’)

Methodology consists of five programmes:
• Peace Education by
strengthening life skills, leadership and social entrepreneurship.
• Psychosocial Support for Youth to achieve their greatest potential in contributing to peace building
Including Stress Management.
• Social Mobilization to advocate around key social issues in communities Partner with Uniting Communities to Mitigate Conflict program implemented in South Africa.
• Environmental Awareness to connect with nature for physical, emotional and spiritual growth.
• Placemaker: Flexible and creative personality, ability to empower and enable young people

Why AYD NPO is partnering with other organizations

Aligned to national and provincial Youth strategies, Social Development and Community Safety overall mission in working with Youth is to increase overall well-being and safety of children and Youth. The goal is to help build Youth-friendly programmes and spaces with access to life skill-based activities and Youth-led initiatives. The partnership contributes actively to innovative Youth programmes that are based on sustainability, evidence and Youth participation. The focus is on enhancing and strengthening Youth resilience to produce strong and confident young people who are able to make informed long-term decisions and who serve as positive role models in their communities.

Replication of Methodology
ADY NPO is acquiring rights to replicate the Community Safety Methodology in South Africa. This includes
• 1 week intensive train the trainer workshop for facilitators, step-by-step guides, and ongoing support to implement methodology.


• d0Tools to support development of the NPO, with a budget and M&E system.
• Opportunities for South African Youth to interact and incubate ideas with Western Cape Youth through Aslan Youth Development network of young peace builders.
• We create a platform for youth to be convention
