Applewood Preparatory School is set in the beautiful Elgin Valley and offers children a quality Independent school experience, focused on the needs of every child. Applewood holds a very high academic standard and offers children a wonderful outdoor program as we are fortunate to have our campus situated on Appletiser road, amongst the beautiful farmlands and apple orchards.
Situated on an apple farm in the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, the campus offers freedom of space (a place where children can be children), surrounded by magnificent vistas of the Elgin Valley and snow-capped winter mountains. It is not unusual to hear the calls of Fish Eagles, Blue Cranes and Jackal Buzzards echoing above.
All of our pupils are encouraged to participate in the full range of activities offered by the school including art, drama, music and sports. The emphasis is on creative thinking, the development of verbal skills and discovery learning, with pupils actively involved in the learning experience.
Our outdoor education programme offers valuable opportunities for our pupils to develop outside the classroom, to appreciate the need to preserve our environment and to enjoy the natural heritage with which we have been blessed.
