African Array is nestled between a biome of Fynbos on a high cliff overlooking a beautiful valley with spectacular mountain and ocean views, the world famous Robberg peninsular and the historical Jakkels kraal dairy farm home to the Griekwa people.

Relax on the deck and enjoy the beautiful view while watching the fish eagles dive into the Roodfontein dam or just hover over head right in front of you. The sunsets and sunrises is most amazing and not to be missed while staying at African Array.

You feel like you are miles from civilization even though town is just a stone through away. Laze in the hammocks scattered around the garden under trees and hidden from everyone else, so you can have a nice relaxed time without being bugged. The hostel has WI FI and is available all around the garden on the deck and is Free. For those guest who don’t have their own laptop or smart phone we have a terminal in the reception you are welcome to use and stay in contact with your loved ones.

Breakfast lunch and dinner can be ordered of a menu at the bar and the beers are always cold. Dinners must be ordered by 4pm in order for us to provide good food at a reasonable time. In order for us to give you an authentic African experience we will serve traditional meals at night. (Babootie, bunny chow, braai, potjies, waterblomitjie bredie, pap and vleis, vetkoek and mince and more). Should you like to cater for yourself we have a fully stocked kitchen making it easy and comfortable.

We have a unbelievable array of available activities at African Array Backpackers Lodge. Bungy jump from the highest bridge in the southern hemisphere, swim with seals or dive with sharks, Skydive over one of the world’s most beautiful drop zones . Boat based whale watching, sea kayaking or rent a boat and picnic on the side of the Keurbooms River, go horse riding in a game reserve or visit one of the many world renowned animal sanctuaries. Hiking some of the most amazing coastal hikes in the country, the Robberg Peninsular is a must see and if you ask Matthew nicely then he may even take you to the wild side a beautiful coastal walk, untouched and breath taking.

We recommend two night stays and would give you the third night on the house if you would like to stay longer (subject to availability, low season only).
