Welcome to the Academy for Environmental Leadership SA the world’s finest living outdoor laboratory, situated at Uizip, on the banks of the Orange River, near Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. (28°23'6.29"S, 21°28'37.43"E)

Here we will equip young people who have finished school, with the necessary academic and life skill tools, to take the lead in the environmental and leadership challenges that face the earth and humankind.

Our one year structured formal course is in the process of being registered with the relevant authorities as a Level 5 Higher Certificate in Life Sciences - it will serve as a vital educational tool for sustainable survival in a complex and rapidly changing environment.

We are blessed to be situated in the heart of Southern Africa, where the Kalahari meets the Orange River.

This is where we have established a Centre of Excellence with the exclusive objective to shape environmentally conscious students to live a responsible life, whilst developing solid leadership qualities.

In the form of a one year environmental leadership course UNDER THE ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP OF DAVE PEPLER, well known environmentalist, our students are:


given the unique opportunity to participate in a rigorous environmental and science based programme,
taught necessary life skills,
provided with the necessary human spirit capital to become meaningful roleplayers wherever they find themselves in later life.
