More about Young African Minds Association

Age means wisdom, but does it mean intellect? Intellect is something I value, but I believe it is more than just a college degree, or a PhD for that matter. It is seeing things in a different light. Being taught how to perform a task, in essence, like a machine, is not intellect, in my opinion.I am a strong believer in an individual applying he or herself more than just what society or a company, or parents expect of them, and in contributing back to society in one way or another. A barrier to that usually comes through (notindividual’s fault) being unstable, whether socially, economically, domestically or mentally. That is what has led me to creating this group.

I have had the privilege of attending international schools and colleges throughout my education career, and as much as that has provided me with a great educational background to which to start life with, it was the other things I picked up during the way that are proving to be more valuable; the core values of St Charles College for example: Honesty, leadership, courage, respect, and discipline. Should you live life by these values, I guarantee you success. I have gained a lot from these experiences, but the unsung characteristics of International schools are the priceless exposure to different cultures and life styles. The reality is, as human beings we are passionate about our beliefs, and it sometimes gets to a point where it clouds what we think of other people. My experiences at international institutions have eliminated that. I can look at things from a neutral perspective, within respect of different peoples cultures, yet try form a logical argument.

I am not the only one; there are enough of us to make a change for the betterof our continent. Seeing the healthy arguments I have been able to share withother patriotic Tanzanians, I have been given a new hope for a better Tanzania, and potentially, Africa as a whole. We have aspiring politicians, artists, economists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and the whole career spectrum! Wehave these people, but they do not have a voice due to the incompetent work oftheir respective governments, at least that is whom they blame.

This is I reaching out to all these aspiring individuals inAfrica; Fashion designers, Human rights activists and aspiring politicians, photographers, believers/visionaries and entrepreneurs. Lets come together and share news headlines, raise concerns, encourage each other and criticise when needed. The doors are open to every individual out there that wants Africa to be abetter place. Lets share and believe in our ideas. My vision is for this to infiltrate into the higher ranks of government. We all have mutual friends in government, we have individuals with the funds and the influence to implement a lot of the ideas that we talk about on Facebook, but they do not see it because it is on a college students profile, whom they don’t want to be friends with. This is a face of a potential community, where your religion, race, social status nor culture will play no part in whether your voice is heard or not.Having said that, lets keep suggestions and arguments to a logical, and supportive boundary. No idea is too stupid, should you have reasoning.
