Woodlands Yoga aims at helping students of all ages grow spiritually and evolve into balanced and peaceful human beings. Yoga helps you get fit, improves your breathing and relaxes your mind. The Yoga Student will gain many physical and mental attributes through the various Asanas (yoga positions).

The two vairiety of Yoga Classes offered at Woodlands Yoga:

- Fusion Yoga: A fusion of Ashtanga, Iyengar & Yin and Vinyasa. Promotes strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance through coordinated breathing and poses that require precise body alignment. A physically active form of Yoga.

- Yin Yoga: Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.
Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to twenty minutes! Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.

A bit about the Yoga Teacher...

Charlotte’s number 1 passion in life is Yoga, and has been from a very young age. Charlotte is a dynamic and passionate Yoga Master, Yoga Therapist, Montessori trained Nursery School Teacher, Reiki Master, Breathwork Practitioner and Tea Ceremony Practitioner. She has been practising Yoga for the past 20 years, since the age of 13. Her studies and years of commitment to her Yoga practice have equipped her with a sound knowledge of various Yoga systems.

Charlotte’s philosophy on Yoga is this; Find and face the challenges on the mat, so that we may live our lives effortlessly. Her classes are challenging (yet easily modified), uplifting, and approachable, as she takes you beyond the physical aspects of yoga, and brings you into your own sacred space.
Through a variety of poses, and conscious sequencing, Charlotte's classes and workshops will build strength, flexibility, and balance through stability, as well as provide the space to discover the truth in transition, and the sense of lightness you're looking for in your practice.
