About the Pooch & Purr Lovers Pet Parlour:
The Pooch & Purr Lovers Pet Parlour is registered with the Pet Groomers Association South Africa.

About Pet Groomers Guild:
The Guild has been created in South Africa to promote and encourage professionalism and to educate groomers to upgrade the image of pet grooming.
It has become increasingly apparent that the grooming industry in South Africa needs to be uplifted and modernized with the changing of times.

Positives of Pet Grooming
You make pets feel better by being groomed. This is crucial to healthy skin, coat and vision.
Many groomers have been the first to spot lumps, infections, rashes and other medical problems. This enables the groomer to send their clients straight to the veterinarian.

Why using the Pooch & Purr Lovers Pet Parlour.

De-Shedding:
Using a de-shedding tool on short haired dogs loosen and remove all the fine hair that normally ends up on your furniture. De-Shedding is done before bathing.

De-Matting
Various ways to deal with mats will be cutting mats in smaller bits, picking out with a comb or detangling shampoos.

Bathing, Shampoos and Conditioners
Luck warm water is used together with only quality name branded shampoos and conditioners (Groomer’s choice) to ensure a clean, shiny coat.

Tick and flea dip
This treatment only kills the parasites that are on the skin and it is not a lasting solution. It also is recommended that you use products like Frontline after your pet has been dipped.

Nail clipping and trimming the pads
Unattended nails may grow long enough to cause the entire tendon and bone structure of the foot to break down.
Unattended dew claws will curve back into the pad, causing a puncture wound that is painful and prone to infection.
The general rule is that pets benefit from having their nails trimmed every four to six weeks.
Clipping the hair short under the pads can minimize the amount of dirt a pet tracks into your house.

Ear cleaning
Preventive care is critical to prevent development of ear infections. Cotton swaps on the finger tip are used with name branded Ear Cleaner to clean the ear. Excessive hair growth is also removed.

Dental Care / Tooth brushing
This unfortunately is not done by us. We don’t find it hygienic to used one tooth brush on all the pets. Every pet will need dental care at some point in their lifetime. It can play a role in the development of heart and kidney disease. We only give your pet some mouth spray, something like mouth wash for a fresh minty breath.

Sanitary trimming
Between the eyes, in front of the ear canal, the groin area and under the tail are clipped.

Grooming old dogs and puppies. We first socialize them and make them use to all the equipment.
