The Jetty River Lodge

The beautiful Jetty River Lodge is situated on the banks of the mighty Umzimvubu River, and directly across from the mighty Mt. Thesiger who boasts her own disused airstrip. It is the ideal holiday retreat for jaded city slickers and nature-lovers. Nestled in serene settings among century old pecan nut trees with manicured rolling lawns and gardens, perfect for a day lounging at the pool or a picnic with the family on the river bank while keen fisherman throw in a line.

Fishermen are treated to a variety of excellent fishing spots. For the adventure seeker - launch your boat from our Jetty and take a scenic journey down the Umzimvubu River which leads directly into the great blue sea. Charter options are readily available for deep-sea trips to some of our unspoiled reefs. Whether you are fishing from the river bank or from a light fiberglass boat, lure fishing, bait casting, fly fishing this stretch of estuary holds many power house mysteries of the salt water. Port St Johns is a favourite fishing destination, especially between the months of May and August when the Sardine run is on.

The Wild Coast is well known for its dramatic and stunning landscape and Port St Johns is truly the “Jewel of the Wild Coast”. Our beautiful indigenous tropical forests and waterfalls accompanied with steep cliffs and rock formations are a feast for the eye.
