The Hope Shop

The Hope Shop in Umkomaas can be best described as the heart of this south coast town. Established in 1996 this unique and enchanting little shop has catered for tourists and locals alike.

From it’s attractive and eye catching exterior dolphin and marine murals to its magical interior, truly an Aladdin’s Cave of treasures. With local African curios to an array of ornaments, artifacts and clothing from all over the world.


There is something for everyone, young and old. You’ll find the most trendy and funky kikois, sarongs, Mexican jackets, Indian dresses, Himalayan tops and skirts as well as a large selection of tie dye garments for adults and children.

There is also a dazzling selection of crystal pendants, costume jewellery and silver jewellery .


For the more mystically minded folk there are a wide range of aromatic incenses, crystals, candles, wind chimes, singing bowls, Buddha’s, dragons, witches and dream catchers.

The foreign tourist will find an amazing assortment of local African curios, from bongo drums, postcards and shark teeth to Big 5 woodcarvings.

For the up country and local visitors there are vibrant and colourful fabrics, cushion covers, bath oil and salts to leather shoes and bags.

This shop with its friendly staff, warm atmosphere and very reasonable prices is certainly a must on your exploration of the south coast.
