Temenos Retreat

Temenos is well loved for its warm hospitality. It extends an invitation to guests to embrace a milieu of stillness and simplicity, so as to listen anew to the needs of one’s body, mind and heart.

Within our healing gardens are many private spaces for you to discover and where you can unwind and restore yourself. Temenos welcomes guests to come and ‘just be’.

Listen to your own heart and body and create your own retreat experience. You are welcome to join the meditation sessions. Yoga and Body therapies are also available to you.

For those who would like to embrace silence, simplicity and solitude we offer group SILENT RETREATS. Our retreatant is gently encouraged to rest, and honour mind, body and spirit. The programme includes gentle early morning walks, meditation, Yoga, and delicious vegetarian breakfasts and suppers.

Should you wish to take time out to nurture yourself we can assist you in creating your own Wellness experience. This could include country walks, yoga, guided meditations for wellbeing, body therapies and healthy country cuisine.

Temenos is the ideal choice for an intimate, heartfelt wedding. Each wedding is tailor made to ensure that your celebration is unique and deeply personal. We have several options for your ceremony: our well-loved garden chapel; in front of our duck-pond teeming with birdlife; in the warmth of our candlelit Well; beneath a canopy of trees at the centre of our spiral or on the formal lawn in front of the library. For your reception we offer: an al fresco feast in our restaurant garden beneath a canopy of Cape Ash trees; our elegant restaurant offering a gourmet menu or the intimacy of our poetry room for smaller weddings.

Temenos is an ideal venue for your small conference or workshop. Situated only two hours from Cape Town we offer: our large comfortable library overlooking the gardens; a relaxed country ambience; exclusive use of our private gardens during your conference; a private dining room, if required; breakaway rooms and a variety of secluded garden spaces for reflection. Our chef is always available to discuss your specific dietary requirements. In addition to this we can offer your delegates: accompanied early morning country walks; a hike to Bushmans Kloof waterfall; Yoga, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong sessions and relaxing Body therapies.
