The Tembisa Lifestyle Market is a space for creatives, creators and services entrepreneurs. We are a space for young business people to promote their businesses, goods and services.

Tembisa, e Sangweni section is the venue for the market, where we currently have T-Shirt makers, vintage fashion, local designer fashion stalls, a tattoo studio, Art stalls, a photography booth, food and drink stalls.

We don't charge entry fees to the market and neither do we charge stall holders it’s a social market. The market takes place every Sunday from 12 pm-10 pm and has been running for 20 weeks and growing steadily.


A Social Space

We are not just a market but also social space for people looking for a different vibe on the weekend. We are planning an array of activities such as social dance lessons, onsite music lessons, and documentary and films screenings.

Promoting Culture & Creativity

We offer alternative vibe in world filled with doof doof (high tempo house and turn up music), because in the townships the variety of activity is limited to clubbing at night or clubbing in the day. Cultural and artistic events never seem to quite take off. This space, we want to avoid, our space is to nurture creativity, innovation, appreciation for art, history, books, music and cultural diversity.


Target Audience

Our target audience is upwardly mobile, who are working professionals and small business owners, and we also see a lot of students who come home from local colleges, Joburg and Pretoria universities and colleges as well as locals.

They mostly reside in the township but they do so by choice. They've experienced city social lives and enjoy clubbing but with age and maturity come a need to see those things happening nearby and developing your townships and spaces.

Tourism and support for the local economy & The Market Shop:

In addition to the market and its activities, we also plan on opening a curio shop to provide stall holders with an additional sales and engagement channel.

Our aim is to create an arts and creative hub that will be a tourist destination in Tembisa and that will support the aspiring businesses to be profitable.

Offer the tourists that land at OR Tambo airport and opportunity to marvel the creative talents and services provided by creative township entrepreneurs.
