Prince Albert is situated at the foot of the Swartberg Pass, a three-and-a-half hour drive from Cape Town. The town's orchards, vineyards and olive groves are a green wonder in a vast, rugged and often arid wilderness.
Accommodation comprises comfortable and stylishly decorated rooms and rondawels in a garden setting. Breakfast and lunch are served on the veranda or in the air-conditioned coffee-shop. Evening meals are served in the Victoria Room, with its imposing, reputedly haunted paintings.
Activities in the area include hiking, bird-watching, star-gazing, cycling, mountain-biking, 4x4 trails, cheese tasting, farm visits and chilling.
