Structural Glass

Home of frameless glass balustrading / frameless glass shower enclosures / frameless glass doors, partitions, walls, screens, wind breaks, windows etc / frameless glass splashbacks, fire screens, swimming pool rim flows etc.

Structural Glass sources, procures, markets and installs frameless glass applications throughout the Western Cape. The company was formed in 2006 by Grant Arbuthnot and Peter De Stadler, who between them have over 40 years experience in glass and glazing. The company operates from its warehouse in Capricorn Park, Muizenberg.

All the glass used is sourced from reputable SABS approved toughening plants and glass merchants. Glass that is installed conforms to National Building Regulations and is specified and fitted according to guidelines set out by South African Glass & Glazing Association (SAGGA). The company is a member of Association of Architectural Aluminum Manufacturers of South Africa (AAAMSA), which incorporates SAGGA and South African Glazing Institute (SAGI) amongst other organisations.

Why use glass:
• Glass is being used more often around the globe in all walks of life.
• With its clean smooth lines, glass is aesthetically pleasing to the eye while giving you a clear view of what is on the other side of it.
• Glass is non- biodegradable even in the sun, so it is an ideal product in almost every facet of life.
• Glass is used in space and underground, as well as in the medical and catering industries
• In its residential application, glass can be used in the roof, walls, windows, doors, floors, pools, kitchen, bathrooms, balconies and for decoration and furniture.

Most frameless glass applications use Toughened Safety Glass, which is where the glass is made seven times stronger than normal glass through a heat process. This process also thermally changes the structure of the glass and alters it into a safety glass, so that if it should break, it collapses into small marble shaped fragments without leaving any dangerous sharp shards.

Each piece of bespoke glass is measured by an experienced glass consultant and custom manufactured to suit its application. There is flexibility in the options available in that the glass for each application could either be basic to serve a functional purpose or extravagant to serve both a practical and decorative purpose.
