Springs Music & Arts Festival

The Springs Musical Festival was started by the Ladies in 1940 during the Second World War, when children presented their prowess in Musical abilities to Adjudicators and Audiences, for the generation of funds needed for the returning wounded second world war victims and their families.

After the war was over and the country stabilised, the need for these funds gradually became less important, so children were recognised and acknowledged for their prowess with floating trophies and cash bursaries to assist their further training and studies in the Performing Arts.

The range of Art activities had during this period also extended from the initial Instrumental and Vocal to include Speech, Drama, Ballet Dancing, Choirs, Voordrag, Pre-Schools, One Act Plays, and Art Displays.

Our Festival has further become fully representative of all who wish to enter from all areas, local and adjacent, for amateurs of all ages, and from all cultural backgrounds.

We provide an annual local platform where aspiring amateurs can present their Speech, Drama and Music, to Professional Qualified Adjudicators in a public venue, and participants are recognised with awards for excellence.

The opportunity is offered for preparation for the children’s personal development for their future so necessary to grow into self-confident adults and to become tomorrow’s leaders. Many past and present Radio, TV, Drama and Dance celebrities started their careers by performing at the Springs Music and Arts Festival.
