Welcome to the Laughing Forest


The Laughing Forest is a resort on the KwaZulu Natal (KZN) south coast which offers self catering accommodation, a wedding venue, and several other facilities to make your time with us as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.

Nestled amongst coastal dune forest, we have created a personalised home environment for each log cabin. The 4 acre property is home to mpete buck, a variety of birds, monkeys and other wild life and is situated in Elysium, which is halfway between Durban and Margate.

Elysium beach is private (very private), and clean. Tidal pools are situated east and west of our location within easy walking distance and also at low tide in front of our beach entrance.

The Laughing Forest is close to most sporting and regular tourist activities, but far from clubs and malls. We pride ourselves as a family orientated resort, catering for families wanting to build pleasant holiday memories.

Currently 9 self catering log cabins are scattered amongst the bush. All cabins sleep 5 (1 double bed and three single beds). All cabins are fully equipped and includes lounge, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, patio and sundeck. Each unit is also fitted with an alarm. The pool and entertainment area has TV with DSTV. All linen is supplied, please bring your own swimming towels. Fishing, diving, walking and cycling options are endless. Fishing ski enthusiasts welcome.
