ShaTranj Mounted Archery

ShaTranj Arabian Stud & Stables came into being in 2002, the name based on the arabian word ShaTranj, which means chess, or more literally referring to black & white - the colors of the two foundation Arabs.
The black stallion Inshallah Kishor and the white Ariq Hirraldo were the first two horses in the stud.

Size of the stud varied over the years and is now standing on 4 broodmares, the stallion Kishor (double bred Ahir) and a whole bunch of newcomers, waiting to be put under saddle.

Shatranj is currently playing host to Mounted Archery Pretoria. We present, competitions, training days, Tournaments and demonstrations.
The first ever Mounted Archery Tournament in Africa (Africa Grand Tournament 2015) was held here on 7 March 2015.
The 2nd Grand Africa Tournament, Day 1, was again held at ShaTranj.
