SBSM SCORES BIG WITH “RAMAYANA”

The Shree Bharat Sharda Mandir’s stage production, “Ramayana” proved hugely successful when it played to a large appreciative audience at the Patidar Theatre in ‘2012’. After winning a standing ovation and even a few tears; the play has been rekindled to stir hearts once again in ‘2014’.
Directed by a young new talent on the Lenasia scene, Kushyall Singh, the play evoked memories of a bygone era as almost everyone in the audience grew up on stories of Lord Ram and his banishment to the forest and the events that unfolded in the aftermath of that momentous decision. Working from a script that he had adapted using the religious epic, Singh rehearsed the young cast for many weeks to get honest and moving performances.
Colourful dances and haunting music added to the overall spiritual experience. Add to that a great production design and brilliant art design, “Ramayana” made for a visually exciting stage work, one that had audience members suggesting the production be reprised in other areas of Gauteng and other Provinces.
The great epic comes to life once again with Singh and his team improving on all aspects of the production, to ensure an experience which audiences will treasure for a life time.
