Background

Roxanne qualified from WITS University in Johannesburg in 2004, where she was awarded the Jo Beenhakker award for the student with the best results in

Physiotherapy 3. In 2005 she completed her complusory year of service at Mofolo clinic, whilst also completing the Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapists Course. After working in private practice, she took a special interest in sports injuries, orthopaedics and manual therapy. In 2007 she took over as Senior Physiotherapist at the Illovo Practice. Her special interests include spinal pain, post-operative rehabilitation, dry needling, lymphoedema, craniosacral therapy and pilates.

Background

Kirsten qualified from WITS University in 2006. She completed her community service in Soweto at Mofolo clinic in 2007. There she was exposed to more community therapy and worked in a multidisciplinary team alongside an OT and Speech Therapist. Kirsten then moved to Milpark hospital where she worked in the Trauma, Burns and Neuro unit for 3 years. She gained experience in the treatment of post traumatic injuries as well as spinal surgery rehabilitation. In 2011, Kirsten joined Roxanne's practice. Kirsten is experienced in all facets of physiotherapy, but decided to further her qualifications in Women's health, which specialisation course she completed in 2011.

Kelly Barker
BSc Physiotherapy (WITS) 2004

Background
Kelly Barker qualified at Wits University in 2004. Thereafter, she completed her community service in the Ekhuruleni District, providing physiotherapy services to a number of local clinics. She then worked at a private practice at Mipark hospital seeing both inpatients (orthopaedics and post surgery ICU), and outpatients (general neuromusculoskeletal injuries) for 3 years. She then spent time working at Francios Voorweg School treating Cerebral Palsy children, working alongside occupational therapists, speech therapists, and social workers. After a year she then moved to Australia where she worked as a physiotherapy assistant in a transitional care center for the elderly, while gaining her Physiotherapy Degree accreditation. Since returning to South Africa she spent some time volunteering at Charotte Maxeke Hospital before joining the practice this year. She is registered with the South Africal Sociatey of Physiotherapists (SASP) as well as the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).


Robyn Shields
BPhysT (University of Pretoria) 2014

Background

Robyn qualified from the University of Pretoria in 2014. While still studying she was given the opportunity to work with sports teams such as the Blue Bulls, SA-A cricket team, SuperSport United and Crusaders. She completed her Community Service at Tshwane District Hospital in Pretoria, which allowed her to gain experience in out-patient physiotherapy in a public setting. In 2016, Robyn joined Roxanne’s Practice, she is also currently furthering her qualification in Sport Physiotherapy. She is registered with the South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP), South African Sport Medicine Association (SASMA) as well as the Health Professions Council (HPCSA).



Kaylene matriculated from Stanger Secondary School in KZN in 2008. She then registered with UNISA in 2009 to study Social work on a part-time basis whilst working as a personal assistant to a financial manager at Old Mutual. In 2010 she relocated to Johannesburg and joined Roxanne's practice as the Receptionist and Practice Manager. Here she has gained excellent experience in dealing with patients, accounts and medical aids." My work at this practice has given me the opportunity to expand my administrative skills and knowledge of medical aids as well as to meet and greet the patients whom we consider the assets of our practice" Kaylene
