River Cottages

At River Cottages we offer both recreational and overnight accommodation in a breath taking environment. We offer three fully equipped self-catering houses sleeping up to 12 guests per house as well as ten two sleeper self-catering units. The houses are located right on the banks of the Vaal River in Parys whilst the two sleeper units are just 200m away from the river. There are lovely inviting swimming pools, lapas and built in braai facilities for those hot, lazy summer days. The location is also suitable for functions and special occasions as the property is very large and picturesque.

The little country town of Parys lies on the banks of the Vaal River about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and an hour and a half from Pretoria. It is the ideal place for enjoying total peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Parys is essentially a farming community, but it has become a popular recreation town due to the loads of outdoor activities on offer, the Vaal River and because of its proximity to Johannesburg, Pretoria and other major cities.

The Vaal River runs for about one kilometre through our property and its banks are lined with weeping willows and reeds and is the perfect invitation for those fond of water related activities such as fishing, canoeing, river rafting etc. There are some lovely hiking and 4X4 trails in and around the town, as well as art, antique and coffee shops as well as a wide range of excellent restaurants.
