Autochem was established in South Africa in 1982 by Andre Schlenk as the sole agent for Dopag AG in southern Africa. Following the sale of the first machine to a Cape Town company, Bayalex, in 1983, the company quickly grew in stature and reputation. From the outset, it was obvious that Autochem was fulfilling a much needed service for South African industry in the field of dispensing equipment, supplying single and two part metering, mixing and dispensing equipment.

Ten years after its launch, the company was renamed - Resin Processing Solutions, or R.P.S, to reflect a new direction and focus. The year 1992 was eventful for R.P.S: a new agency was added, Verfahrenstechnik Heubers Gmbh (VTH), which specialised in the metering and mixing of completely evacuated materials, ensuring a 100% air free mix; and an exciting new partnership was formed with EDF, now known as Sonderhoff Engineering, a specialist in the field of insitu gasket and filter applications.

This partnership provided R.P.S with an opportunity to enter the sheet metal industry, an industry requiring high performance seals.

Also in 1992, Schlenk established a sister company to R.P.S, Robatech SA, which has since become one of the two largest Hot Melt and Cold Glue equipment manufacturers in the world, as well as a leader in many of the industries. Robatech specialises in the processing of low to high viscous material ranging in processing temperatures from 21°C - 230°C.

R.P.S has continued to grow from strength to strength, constantly looking for new and innovative solutions to local industry challenges and constantly striving to achieve its original mandate of providing the most comprehensive service to industry.

From 1996 through to 2008, another four agencies were added to R.P.S, further extending its service to local industry.

OMS specialises in the field of low to high pressure foaming machines and the provision of complete solutions in the field of panel and filter manufacturing.
Respecta specialises in the production of polymeric concrete and Ceaser stone products.
Wolfangel offers a top class service to the boat building industry with a superior quality metering and mixing system for the application of gel coat and chopped glass fibre infused with resin.
Plasmatreat, a world leader in openair plasma, offers a variety of patents pertaining to processing equipment. It is widely used to improve the surface tension of the product, thus eliminating the use of solvents and primers.
R.P.S has now become the leading company in South Africa for Supplying the Equipment in the processing of a range of various chemicals, including:

Grease and Oil
Gel Coal

The company has successfully sold well over 300 units in the past 25 years.

The team at R.P.S are motivated strive to ensure continued success and service. The founder, Andre Schlenk, remains in charge of the company, ably supported by his son, Dominique Schlenk. Dominique has been involved in the business since 1999 starting in a junior position and working his way to a point of responsibility. His interest in R.P.S will ensure continuity for clients well into the 21st century.
