Debt counselling is a process in which the law gives protection to consumers who have fallen behind with or are finding it difficult to keep up with their monthly instalments related to debt. It therefore prevents creditors from taking legal action (if they have not already done so) and allows the consumer to repay the debt in a manageable way.
