After researching numerous diets e.g. paleo, paleo autoimmune, banting, vegan and vegetarian, I realised that there are a few things that most of them have in common. One is to eat the freshest, if possible, organic vegetables and meat, wild caught fish, and to avoid gluten, sugar and processed foods. The second one is to add fermented food and beverages to your diet to enhance your gut health. Fermented foods consists of good bacteria that helps your digestive system to absorb nutrients and fight bad bacteria that causes all kinds of health issues e.g. indigestion, SIBO, candida, various other digestive problems and autoimmune conditions. Fermented foods are probiotic which means "for life", as opposed to antibiotic, which means "against life". If you are exposed to a lot of toxins, stress, antibiotics and consuming processed food and sugar, your gut bacteria will most probably be compromised. By introducing fermented foods like sauerkraut, cultured vegetables and fermented beverages like kombucha and beet kvass into your diet you will increase the good bacteria to restore your gut health. My Home Kitchen was established as a result of this research and we are producing homemade, unpasteurised fermented foods and beverages.
