The mandate of the Ministry of Education and Skills Development is to provide quality education and training to facilitate economic growth and global competitiveness. The mandate is premised on the need to enable individuals to develop their potential for a productive and meaningful livelihood. It is a key priority of the Ministry that from an early age children experience quality learning that directs itself to the protection of all children’s rights and by extensions the rights of all persons as well and the responsibilities arising from the enjoyment of such rights. The priority goals for the ministry as articulated in NDP 10 are; 1) To increase access, equity and quality in education and training and 2) To provide globally competitive human resource to drive the economy.
