More about Masjidussalaam

Masjid Us Salaam is just not a Masjid. This Masjid has a very interesting history on how it was established. Let us yell you some history about the Masjid us Salaam Laudium.

Darus Salaam Islamic Research Centre (DSIRC)

1994- the PNMEI, wishing to further expand its educational objectives, invited the late Prof. 'Abd al-Rahman a world-renowned academic, to South Africa with the purpose of resuscitating the Centre for Islamic Studies at the Rand Afrikaans University, Johannesburg.

1995 - On Prof. Doi's recommendation, an independent research unit was established. A research unit complete with library, auditorium and a publishing unit has now been incorporated within the Masjid us Salaam Complex.

Mabopane Islamic Centre
The Mabopane Islamic Centre at 533 Block D, is the latest project of the PNMEI, with special focus on da'wah and education. The centre comprises a Jamaat Khanah which
also includes facilities for women to pray and receive Islamic instruction; Imam's quarters and a kitchen and mess to feed the children. The centre caters for around 200 people.

As an added dimension to da`wah, the Odi prison is visited twice a week. Besides these activities, the following services are also catered for:
• One meal is provided daily to all Madrasah-going children.
• Transport is provided for some Madrasah-going children.
• Nikaahs (marriages) are solemnised.

1976 - the PNMEI moved its operations to 359 Mink Street. A Jamaat Khanah and Imams quarters were constructed on the site. All salaah, including Jumu'ah and Tarawfh, were performed here till the end of 1993, when it was transferred to the Darus Salaam Islamic Centre. This was only a temporary measure with a view to establishing a Masjid on the adjoining freehold property.

Construction on Masjidus Salaam, the chief component within the new Darus Salaam complex, started in 1998. This inauguration in September 2001 brings to fruition the PNMEI's aspiration.

It is only through the Grace and Help of the Almighty Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala that the PNME1 was able to achieve all of the above. We pray to Almighty Allah Ta'ala that He accepts all our humble efforts that the PNME continues to expand and progress in rendering service to humanity, and that our efforts be crowned with His pleasure - Amin. We take this opportunity to thank all our well-wishers, donors, and supporters for their generous contributions. May Allah Ta'ala grant them success and prosperity in their worldly and religious affairs - Amin.
