Karoo Ballooning Graaff-Reinet

How it works:

Arrival at Botanics Sports Grounds in Graaff-Reinet (see directions) 30 min before sunrise.
Coffee/Tea and rusks are served on arrival.
Indemnity forms and paperwork is finalized after which you experience how the balloon is inflated and prepared for the flight that lies ahead.
Passengers board the balloon and is given a briefing on do’s and don’t’s during the flight. A normal flight last between 45min and 1hr.Retrieval vehicles follow the balloon and is in radio contact for the duration of the flight. The flight can be in any direction as the destination of the day is dependent on the direction of the wind
Upon landing, dependant on location, a glass of champagne/orange juice is enjoyed to celebrate a safe landing.
Guests are then transported back to the launch site where a light breakfast is enjoyed while rehashing this momentous occasion with fellow passengers.

What it costs: Price is R2500 per person. (Weight limit 120kg)

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING:

· You do not need to bring your e-ticket; your passenger details will be on the flight docs

· Hats or caps are essential (to deflect heat from the burner)

· Valuables should be kept to a minimum in case we land in a rural area

· Temperatures are often warmer in the air than on the ground

· We recommend that you wear clothing in peelable layers, long pants and closed flat shoes as you will need to climb into and out of the basket

· In summertime, your shoes can become quite wet in the early morning dew, so it is recommended that you bring a spare pair for after the flight

· At any time of the year, we recommend wearing sunscreen on your face

· Jackets, handbags, backpacks or camera bags may be left with the ground crew during flight

· Remember to bring extra batteries for your camera
