More about Indie Karoo Film Festival

The Indie Karoo Film Festival creates a platform for independent film makers and storytellers producing cutting-edge feature, documentary, experimental and short films, by introducing audiences to some of South Africa's most exciting emerging talent.

2016 is the second year that Indie Karoo Film Festival, takes place in the Karoo town of Prince Albert. Selected feature, documentary, experimental and short films will be screened over 3 days from the 1st to the 3rd of July 2016 at four venues: The Showroom Theatre, the Zwartberg High, the Jans Rautenbach Schouwburg and the Sidwell Williams Centre.

Workshops run from June 29 to July 3 and include a scriptwriting workshop presented by Daniel Dercksen from The Writing Studio, Bobby Roth’s masterclass video lessons in directing, as well as editing and grading workshops by LABSPACE. Director Gavin Hood will do a Q & A after the screening of his latest critically acclaimed film, ‘Eye in the Sky’. The 5 day festival allows patrons to rub shoulders and network with not only industry professionals, but also aspiring new film makers.

Apart from the excellent films and workshops on offer, patrons are encouraged to explore, discover, taste and enjoy the many attractions that Prince Albert - the Jewel of the Great Karoo, has to offer. Here you will find True Karoo Hospitality combined with the Creative Energy of the Indie Karoo Film Festival.
