In 1979 with just R900, Allan Hirsch, an appliance repair man unwittingly became an entrepreneur. Together with his wife, Margaret Hirsch, they started their family run appliance business in a tiny showroom, no bigger than a bathroom, in Umhlanga Rocks Drive.

Hirsch’s, a name synonymous with service and brand excellence has taken the home appliance world by storm! With sixteen branches and concept stores spread throughout South Africa, they have become a force to be reckoned with. Today the Hirsch’s are proud of their position as the biggest independently owned Appliance and Electronics Retail outlet in South Africa. Hirsch’s is not just about shopping, they add value to the shopping experience by holding functions and demonstrations in store that revolve around product.
