Personal statement
I believe in my client – in their strength and resilience. I believe that they have the ability to cope with and overcome their difficulties. I am respectful of their situation, while encouraging them to identify their resources and own their strength. My aim is to help my clients believe in themselves again, and to live their potential.
I feel privileged to be invited on the client’s journey towards their preferred destination.

By making use of:

- Assessments (for school readiness, subject choice, career counselling, scholastic difficulties)
I follow a Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) approach to psychotherapy. Working as co-constructors, the client (whether an individual, child, parent, couple or family) and I work together on building solutions - to make a difference in the client’s life.
Assessment is an area of special interest to me. Comprehensive assessments are conducted, after which recommendations, referrals or interventions can be made to address the client's need in a holistic manner. Assessments can assist with career counselling, subject choice, school readiness and scholastic difficulties.
I am also an accredited service provider and facilitator of the STUDY TOOLBOX Study Skills workshops. These workshops aim to assist junior (Gr. 4 – 7) and senior (Gr. 8 – 12) learners in developing effective study tools. The study skills can be provided during individual sessions or in a group setting. Study skills training can be especially helpful to Grade 3 and Grade 7 learners during the last two terms of the year, in preparation for Grade 4 (first year writing exams) and Grade 8 (high school and added workload).
