German Information Centre Africa

The German Information Centre Africa is a virtual window that shows the diversity of modern-day Germany and its multi-faceted links and partnerships with African countries. It is designed to enhance the flow of information to those in Africa interested in Germany. The GIC is a public diplomacy initiative of Germany's Federal Foreign Office.

The website www.gicafrica.diplo.de offers English-language stories with a German-African angle, as well as information on business, education, research, politics, sports and culture in Germany. Current information is available in RSS feeds as well as a bi-monthly electronic newsletter or via this facebook page.

Pretoria was chosen as the site for the centre reflecting its role as a media and communications hub within Africa.

Germany recognises the huge growth potential in internet usage across Africa due to improvements in technical infrastructure and welcomes the promised rise in connectivity to the continent and its people.
