Dr T Mokaya Gynaecological Practice

Doctor Tom Mokaya is a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist practicing in Johannesburg.

He did his specialist obstetrics and gynaecologist training with the University of Witwaterstrand becoming a Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa (FCOG (SA)) in 2003.

During his training as a gynaecologist Dr Mokaya was awarded the GP Charlwood medal by the Collage of Medicine of South Africa, as the candidate with the best performance in Part one of the fellowship examination of the College of the Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He was awarded the Van Dongen medal by the University of Witwaterstrand for the above achievement.

After completion of his training as a specialist Dr Mokaya worked as a consultant specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist at Baragwanath Hospital where he continued to gain experience.

His association with the University of Witwaterstrand still continues where he is an external examiner in the Medical School, for undergraduate medical students.

Dr Mokaya is a regular contributor of articles and commentary to magazines especially those of interest to pregnancy, childbirth and women's health including Living and Loving, Mamas and Papas and many others. He has served in the editorial board of the Living and Loving magazine.

He is regularly invited to participate in mass media education programs in print radio and television programs on DSTV, SABC and ETV.

Dr Mokaya has also been invited to participate and lecture in Midwifery Symposia.

1. OBSTETRICS SERVICES

b. Ultrasound 2D and 4D
c. Follow up of medical disorders in pregnancy like hypertension, anaemia in pregnancy, HIV, foetal-maternal medicine and child birth

2. GYNAECOLOGICAL SERVICES

In gynaecology, Dr Mokaya offers all services related to woman's health, early detections and treatment of disorders of the reproductive system. This also includes preventative care, detection and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases and counselling.

Other services offered are gynaecological endocrinology including fertility (infertility), contraception and menopause.

Pap smears are managed according to the latest guidelines and further assessment and treatment carried out where necessary.
