Church Background

Pastor Sakhile and his wife Makwena Sibiya started pastoring the church in 1995 as lay leaders, starting with only two families. It was a church plant from the parent church of the Christ Centred Church in Atteridgeville under the leadership of Bishop Abraham Sibiya, the Founder and President of the Christ Centred Church. Pastor Sakhile served under his elder brother as a Youth Pastor in Atteridgeville, until the Lord called him to shepherd the church in Soshanguve.

He began pastoring the church part-time, while still in full-time employment in the private sector. The church met in Nchapeu Primary School under very difficult circumstances. The work grew rapidly as people were added in great numbers and had to move to the AFM Bible College Hall in Block K. Within a space of two years the church already had a membership of over 300.

In 1999 the church moved to the Soshanguve Community Hall with a seating capacity of 500 in Block H. Pastor Sakhile came into full-time ministry in early 2000, leaving a promising career in the private sector where he was the National Marketing Manager at Nissan Diesel. He would use this background, together with his leadership gifting, passion for souls and emphasis on excellence to set up the church towards a growth trajectory that was unprecedented. By end 2004, the church had four full-time pastors including Pastor Sakhile.

In December 2004, the church moved into its own auditorium, that seats 1500 people. The auditorium was built within 2 years without any outside funding, but only the sacrifices of the members of the church. In April 2014 the Christ Centred Church took a new direction, a new vision and a new name – Christ Centred Chapel of Grace to respond to fresh ministry dynamics. The Christ Centred Chapel of Grace includes branches in Soshanguve, Soshanguve Ext 13, Wintervelt, and Pretoria East.
