Our mission is to produce healthy, top quality open pollinated vegetables that are chemical and GMO free.

What are Heirloom Vegetables?

Before the 2nd World War and the introduction of mass scale farming, hybrid seed and mono- culture farming systems there was a much wider selection of vegetables, fruits and grains available. Many farming families developed their own open pollinated strains and handed them down from generation to generation.
It is amazing to see the diversification of type, colour, shapes and sizes that were available with every Country and Culture having its own selection of nourishing fruits and vegetables.

At Boavida we have selected and planted over 100 varieties of vegetables and in the next few months we will offer you the fruits of our seasonal harvest.

Here is a list of what we will have on offer in time to come:

• More than 20 varieties of Tomato’s- from the tiny Hawaiian Currant to the Black Krim from Russia.
• A fantastic selection of bunching, spring and Gourmet cooking onions.
• Beetroots
• A huge variety of summer and winter Squashes- Spaghetti Squash, Turks Turban, Scallops and Zucchini’s
• Corn and Sweet corn - from the beautiful Blue Jade sweet corn to the striking deep red Bloody butcher Corn on the cob.
• Cucumbers- from Parisian Pickling cucumbers to more exotic eastern varieties.
• We will have our ever popular Purple Dragon Carrots as well as Atomic red, Lunar White, Amarillo Yellow and many varieties of Orange carrots each with its own bit of history.
• Eggplant – a colourful selection from across the world.
• Peppers and Chilli’s- now this is fun having such a selection of colours and sizes to choose from. Some of the hottest Chilli’s and tastiest sweet peppers will be available soon!
• Cabbage, Cauliflower, Broccoli…….Yes, a wide selection of brassicas with the Purple Sicilian Cauliflower as my favourite.
And then there will be a huge assortment of Beans, lettuce, spinach, melons, radish, leeks and many, many more.
