INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION
While the South African economy is experiencing some growth and opportunities seem endless for the citizens and especially for the young South Africans, the sad reality remains that, children from disadvantaged backgrounds or impoverished families still and will find it difficult to gain access to information and various tools that can enable them to break free from the chains of poverty.
While the South African government is committed to Education as one of its top national priorities, there still remains a lot to be done to truly move towards an enabling environment where the youth of this country regardless of their socio-economic backgrounds really are able to dream and can work towards realizing that dream.
There still remains a need for organisations to work together with the communities in improving the quality of lives of the people, especially those from the underprivileged backgrounds. It is for this purpose that a youth based NGO, African youth Development Organisation (AYDO) was constituted.
